I spent several hours today on a tour of Washington DC with a group of 25 of the TechWomen Mentors and Mentees. We had a great time seeing the sights – even though many of the roads are blocked off for the Independence Day parade and other 4th of July events. We got to see part of the parade itself. I think the highlight for many of the Middle Eastern and North African Mentees was seeing the White House. More particularly, they were fascinated with all of protest groups in front of the White House. There were Anti-Nuclear War protesters, Anti-Drug Law protesters, Anti-Middle-Eastern Dictator protesters, Anti-Smoking protesters, and others whose topic of protest was unclear.
